Legal Support

Legal Support

Whether you or your loved one live with cerebral palsy, you may find yourself navigating complex legal systems at some point in your life.

From education and social care to housing, healthcare, employment and financial support, cerebral palsy can bring lifelong physical, communication, cognitive and care needs that make accessing the right support more complicated, particularly where different areas of law overlap.

This can include everything from:

• Clinical negligence and birth injury claims
• Lifelong guardianship and decision-making
• Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Disability benefits
• Social care assessments
• Workplace discrimination
• Mental capacity law
• Personal injury and future care damages

Knowing where to start

Whether you need to understand your rights, challenge decisions or secure the support you or your loved one is entitled to, you need more than just “a lawyer”. You need specialist advice from someone who understands the lifelong and highly individual nature of cerebral palsy, and the legal, practical and emotional complexities that can come with it.

While we’re experts in cerebral palsy and the realities of living with the condition, we’re not legal experts, and we know that finding the right advice can feel overwhelming.

That’s why we’re developing a new legal support network for people affected by cerebral palsy in Scotland.

Coming Soon!

We’re working closely with our partners at Irwin Mitchell and Slater and Gordon Lawyers on shaping what this will look like, as well as speaking with legal professionals, advocacy organisations and members of the cerebral palsy community across Scotland.

If you would like to:

• learn more about the network
• express interest as a legal professional or organisation
• suggest areas of support people most need help with
• or be notified when the network launches
